Day 182—Day 190.
We had nine more days in Thailand (three in Chiang Mai and five in Bangkok) before we moved on to India. On none of these days did we do anything that warrants a stand-alone post, so we're just putting them all right here. (And if you're thinking that's a totally obvious way to catch up on these entries, you'd be spot on.)
Tuesday, 17-02-2015. Day 181.
Baby Elephant Day Care.
The girls were interested in hanging out with some elephants while we were in Thailand, so we hooked up with Ran-Tong Elephant Centre, which is saves and rescues elephants, giving them a better life and future.
We realized that after our amazing Hanoi food tour, any other tour would be chopped beef to Hanoi’s filet mignon. But, knowing the vibrant food scene in Bangkok, we felt a food tour would be in order.
Saturday, 14-02-2014 — Sunday, 15-02-2015.
Days 178 — 179.
A week prior, we took in the Sunday walking market and enjoyed it so much, we decided to visit both the Saturday and Sunday walking markets this week.
Friday, 13-02-2015. Day 177.
Experiencing Art in Three Dimensions.
In which we walk up to Art in Paradise to see the large, interactive illusion art murals and then take in the Chiang Mai Night Market.
Tuesday, 10-02-2015. Day 174.
White Temples, Golden Toilet, Golden Triangles.
We take a day trip by van to Chiang Rai in northern Thailand. We can't say it was the best tour, but we did get to see everything we wanted to ... and more.
Saturday, 07-02-2015 — Monday, 09-02-2015.
Days 171 — 173.
Chiang Mai is a very festive town, and during the next two days we took in some of those festivities. First, we walked up to see the Chiang Mai Flower Festival, then the next day we strolled around the Sunday Walking Market, which takes place every week at Tha Phae Gate.
Tuesday, 03-02-2015 — Friday, 06-02-2015.
Days 167 — 170.
We knock around Bangkok for a few days before heading up to Chiang Mai. Somewhere in this period of time, three of us get sick and we really appreciated Thailand's liberal prescription drug policy.
Monday, 02-02-15. Day 166.
Palaces & Temples.
We'd sort of been a little sedentary in Bangkok, so it was time to check out Ayutthaya, one of the old capitals of the Thailand, home to numerous temples, and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Sunday, 02-01-2015. Day 165.
Express boat to the Australian Open.
We really wanted to see the Australian Open, and we found out that The Sportsman, an expat bar in the Sukhumvit area would be . But how to get there? None of us felt like negotiating with and being scammed by another taxi driver. But, fortunately, the Khlong Saen Saep Express Boat was just up the road.
Saturday, 31-01-2015. Day 164.
Ghosts, Lizards, Mama Cats.
Despite the title, this post won't be about food. That's coming later. Instead, it's about some of the events and things we saw while we were on our food tour in Bangkok.
Friday, 30-01-2015. Day 163.
Democracy, Groceries, and Gold.
We venture out into the neighborhood again to visit Thip Samai (a restaurant that sells the best pad thai in the world) and then climb the Golden Mount Temple—but not before we unsuccessfully tried to buy beer.
Thursday, 29-01-2015. Day 162.
We learn a few things about Bangkok.
On our first day we learned that Bangkok isn't really called Bangkok, that the city is hot and humid, and that negotiating taxi fares is a pain. We also experience our first Bangkok street scam—but don't take the bait.
Tuesday. 27-01-2015 — Wednesday. 28-01-2105.
Day 160 — 161.
We didn't do much on Day 160. The girls got massages (again) and we ate pizza at Belmiro's for the last time, because the next day we'd be leaving Cambodia for Thailand.
Thailand in Pictures.
Our travels took us to Kingdom of Thailand, where we stayed for a month in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. We saw a lot of cool things during our stay—here are are few of them.
