Snow on the Acropolis
This morning Yiannis Baboulias posted this photo of the Acropolis (taken by Antonis Nikolopoulos for Eurokinisi) covered with a rare dusting of snow. We visited Athens in April when the weather was quite pleasant, and the Acropolis looks quite different without snow. As Baboulias pointed out later in the thread, the snowfall makes it look very much like a fortress.
It’s been more than 10 years since Athens has seen snow, and many Athenians celebrated accordingly. But the inclement weather didn’t keep the Evzoni from their duty guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
On our trip, we spent four days exploring Athens and learning about this amazing city. Read about our adventures right here in an entry we call Games, Gods, and Government in Athens.
